Foster City

Foster City is a planned community, conceived and founded by developer T. Jack Foster with Bay Area business magnate Richard Grant in 1958. The two businessmen had the idea to develop a community on what was known at the time as Brewer’s Island, but they faced an uphill battle due to many factors, namely the fact that the land had been San Francisco Bay salt marsh tideland prior to being dried out in 1897 so the quality of the land itself presented challenges. But after persevering, the city finally incorporated in 1971.

Today, Foster City is a thriving community of about 40,000 residents. It offers an upscale aesthetic which comes from being a planned master community, along with beautiful parks and recreation centers, as well as access to a variety of water activities on the Foster City Lagoons. The real estate options range from condominiums to large single family homes on the water, and everything in between. Conveniently located near the 92 and 101 freeways, Foster City provides easy access to Silicon Valley, San Francisco, and the East Bay.
